Getting Started
Getting started - 2 minute read
I’ve been a photographer for many years and this is something I am keen to explore further. I’ve been working in business as a project manager now for close on 20 years running my own business and supporting housing and property companies, but I feel like I have ‘done’ this and now want a change of direction.
So, I’ve decided to try and mix my passion for photography with my interest in property, the wider built estate and commercial photography in general.
Based in Uffculme, Mid Devon, my personal passion is landscape photography, with a keen interest in commercial, property, construction, heritage and architectural photography where having an eye for what works in landscape and how that can read across to property to produce accurate and effective images.
This is very much a work in progress as I seek clients willing to put their faith in me and my vision.
I have worked freelance in property since 2010 for private and social property companies. In these roles I have managed the refurbishment of a central London 4 storey office block for a major housing company, advised on Building Safety for 2 more housing companies and used and commissioned photography in many of these roles.
I have enjoyed property and getting to grips with subjects such as repairs and maintenance, asset management and building safety so have been involved in how buildings are designed, built and maintained and have seen some interesting ideas that meld photography and image making in the broader sense with building information, evidence and building marketing.
What this actually means is that I am very aware of how photography can be used in property and construction, have worked in building sites and operational ports which means I take my and others safety seriously and can provide my own PPE.
Lastly, I am a member of the Royal Photographic Society where I hold the prestigious and internationally recognised LRPS (Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society) and have a City & Guilds NVQ Level 4 in Photo Imaging (Digital Photography and Imaging, all of which means I know how to drive a camera.
